If you’re a student, procrastination is kinda your thang and what better way to while away those all-important hours than to close your mind to all that pointless coursework, saddle up and ride the cyber-wave of the World Wide Web. Some of the greatest time-wasters of all time can be found nestling between status updates and EBay sales. We’ve weeded out the cream of the crop for you to peruse at your leisure – your time is precious, after all.
A visit to Reddit has become an impulsive action to me when I turn on my computer, and I ain’t ashamed to admit it. It hosts a wealth of interesting, topical and funny articles, images, blogs, websites and forums which will draw you into its web of awesome in no time. Everything is ranked in order of how many ‘up votes’ it receives, which ensures that the most popular topics stay on the front page… and subsequently proving that Reddit is more in touch with its constituents (ie. The whole freakin’ world!) than Glasgow City Council. All in all, this site is leading the pack in top class procrastination websites, and has more than earned its right to the title ‘the front page of the internet’.
If the student life has left you a bit out of pocket, then have we got a treat for you. ’10 ways to have more money as a student, without working’ - the crucial money-saving ‘like’ page on Facebook has managed to stay below the radar for some time now, and has been rewarding students for their time-wasting efforts ever since. Every day sees a slew of new bargains, price glitches, profit ideas, freebies, competitions and vouchers posted. These deals don’t wait around, so get on it right now!
I am a relatively new visitor to the gift-guide and gadgetry website Dude I Want That, but I’m already in love. Who cares if most of the gadgets they feature would bankrupt The Queen? The mere knowledge that mind-bending technology such as “True Mirror” (a mirror that doesn’t reverse your image) and the “fruit infuser water bottle” (a water bottle that makes plain water taste like fruit) exists is enough to justify gawping in awe at this site for hours on end. You will hear yourself say “why didn’t I think of that?!” more times in a one hour visit to this site than in your entire life.
Ah, Cracked. You have been my companion, my guide, my teacher. Your cleverly crafted articles have provided me with years of entertainment. We’ve shared the laughs, the tears, the memories. No one compares to you, dear Cracked. Ahem, excuse the tender soliloquy from one budding writer to the messiahs of tongue-in-cheek. Cracked is unconquerable when it comes to thought-provoking yet pants-shittingly funny articles – their “crack” team of writers (see what I did there?!) work around the clock and have provided some of the best observations of popular culture and the human condition I have ever seen. My personal recommendations are: “6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person” and “5 Ways to Hack Your Brain into Awesomeness”. Go, enjoy, and be enlightened. You can thank me later.
